This app is designed for people who are interested in becoming an echo and/or TTE ultrasound technician (cardiac sonographer).
What is an echo ultrasound technician (EIT)?
In an echo ultrasound laboratory (lab), an echo ultrasound technician (EIT) performs ultrasound tests on patients to diagnose their medical conditions. In some cases, the tests may be used to perform an intervention or procedure in the patient’s body. The tests are performed with the patient in a diagnostic ultrasound machine (DUS) and the EIT is responsible for performing the test, while the medical doctor is responsible for ordering the test and for the patient’s diagnosis and treatment, if any.
The main responsibility of an echo ultrasound technician (EIT) is to perform the test and to interpret the results of the test.
This app was developed by a currently practicing cardiac sonographer with many years of experience. It is intended to help people to learn how to perform the most important part of the echo ultrasound test, which is determining the severity of aortic stenosis.
The aortic valve area is measured with a tool that is used to measure the distance between the inner wall of the aorta and the wall of the heart.
